Lady Toppers Prepare for Memphis Women's Intercollegiate

GERMANTOWN, Tenn. — WKU Lady Topper Golf will compete this week in its final tune-up before the Conference USA Championship at the Memphis Women's Intercollegiate.

The Lady Toppers will be 1 of 14 programs competing Monday and Tuesday at the par-71, 6,105-yard Ridgeway Country Club. The field includes four other C-USA programs – UAB, Marshall, Middle Tennessee and Southern Miss.

Teams will play 36 holes on Monday beginning with an 8:30 a.m. CT shotgun start, with the final round slated for Tuesday.

"I'm looking forward to competing closer to home this week," WKU head coach Adam Gary said. "Memphis puts on a great tournament on a great golf course. We will get a better idea of where we stand before the conference tournament since MTSU, Marshall, USM and UAB are all in the field. I'm excited to get more tournament reps in before conference."

Juniors Mary Joiner, Abigail Smee and Bailey Tyree, sophomore Megan Clarke and freshman Lizzie Loy will represent the Lady Toppers this week at Memphis.

WKU most recently finished second at its own Spring Break Shootout earlier this month, losing a tie for first in the team standings on a scorecard playoff. It broke its program record for 54-hole team score by 11 strokes in the outing.

The Lady Toppers also set new program records for 18 and 36 holes in the event.

All five WKU golfers in team competition finished in the top 20 in the Spring Break Shootout, led by Tyree's career-best third-place performance. She earned her first C-USA Women's Golfer of the Week award as a result.

After the Memphis tournament, the Lady Toppers head into the 2019 Conference USA Championship on April 15-17 in Fort Myers, Fla.
