NASHVILLE, Tenn. – WKU Track and Field wrapped up its regular-season slate on Saturday at the Vanderbilt-hosted Music City Challenge. The Red and White recorded eight top-10 performances against the stout field of competition.
"We saw several improvements today and look forward to the Conference USA Championship next week," head coach Erik Jenkins stated.
Annastacia Forrester earn a pair of top-six finishes across the two-day outing in Nashville. She picked up a fourth-place finish in the long jump, clearing 6.08 meters which surpassed the Vanderbilt record of 5.99 meters. The mark was also a season-best for the freshman and WKU's top bound of the season. In the high jump, Forrester earned a sixth-place finish with a jump of 1.71 meters.
In the women's triple jump, Myesha Nott finished sixth after covering 12.38 meters.
While she finished in a tie for 17th, Getter Lemberg cleared a WKU season-best height of 3.73 meters in the pole vault. The mark is a new indoor personal-best for the senior.
On the men's side, Oliver Alexandre finished third in the 400-meter dash with a time of 47.03 – an indoor personal best for the senior. The mark is also the fastest time of the indoor season for the Hilltoppers.
Austin Hayes clocked a 21.74 200-meter dash time to finish fourth in the event. In the 60-meter race, Josh Davis registered a 6.85 reading to finish fifth in the prelims and earn a spot in the event finals. In the same race, former Hilltopper Emmanuel Dasor finished third with a time of 6.791 in the finals.
WKU's final two top-10 showings came in the men's relays. The Hilltoppers' 4x400-meter relay unit clocked a 3:09.51 mark for a runner-up finish. In the distance medley relay, WKU's squad finished fourth after posting a time of 10:20.70. The DMR unit of Dedrick Troxell, Ka'Ven Berry, Abdur Kelly and Emerson Wells combined to post WKU's top mark of the season.
Next weekend, the WKU squads will head to Birmingham, Ala., for the Conference USA Indoor Championships. The two-day outing from Feb. 16-17 will pit the Red and White against C-USA's best.
