BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – In WKU's first home match since April 13, 2017, Lady Topper Tennis fell to the UAB Blazers 4-0 in its second Conference USA match of the season.
After pushing the match back to 2 p.m. due to weather, WKU and UAB started with doubles action. In the leading spot, junior Lisa Friess and sophomore Laura Bernardos were defeated 6-1. The Blazers also defeated freshman Judit Gonzalez Agud and junior Lucia Diaz Saez 6-4.
In the third doubles spot, freshmen Kyla Dilger and Zeniece Charles-Hall lost 6-1 to a pair of Blazers.
Three Lady Toppers were scored in singles play. Bernardos competed at the leading spot and fell 6-1, 6-1. Friess played at the No. 2 and was defeated by her UAB opponent 6-0, 6-1. Dilger rounded out the lineup and lost 6-0, 6-0.
Diaz Saez's singles match was recorded as unfinished but the Lady Topper was ahead in her second set when UAB clinched the match victory. Gonzalez Agud and Charles-Hall also did not finish their singles matches.
WKU (0-7, 2-0 C-USA) is back in action next weekend in a three-day road swing. The Lady Toppers will first head to NKU on Friday before traveling to Miami (OH) and Ball State.
