BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — WKU Hilltopper Golf competes in its first team event of the spring this week at South Alabama's Mobile Sports Authority Intercollegiate.
The Hilltoppers will be 1 of 15 programs participating Monday and Tuesday at the par-72, 7,212-yard Magnolia Grove Crossings Golf Course in Mobile, Ala.
Teams will play 36 holes Monday beginning with an 8 a.m. CT shotgun start. The final round will start at 8 a.m. Tuesday with tee times.
Redshirt senior Billy Tom Sargent, senior Stuart Easton, redshirt junior Linus Lo, junior Tom Bevington and redshirt freshman Dawson McDaniel will compete for WKU this week.
The Hilltoppers took a portion of their roster to an individual event at Georgia Southern last week, but the South Alabama tournament begins the spring slate in earnest.
"We left Kennesaw in the fall as a hungry team," WKU head coach Chan Metts said. "We had some guys capitalize on that with some success in a few events during the break. Last week was a great start to our spring, and we are hoping to use that momentum at South Alabama's event. We have a lot of guys in the lineup that are familiar with this course, so that helps as well."
WKU finished third in a 16-team field last year in the Mobile Sports Authority Intercollegiate, shooting 6 under as a team. Sargent placed third individually.
