BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — WKU Hilltopper Basketball officially begins its 2019-20 season at home against Tennessee Tech at 7 p.m. CT Tuesday at E.A. Diddle Arena. The game will air on ESPN+, as well as WKU PBS in Bowling Green and WBNA in Louisville.

The Hilltoppers began the campaign with an 85-45 exhibition victory over Kentucky State on Saturday.

Tennessee Tech, led by first-year head coach John Pelphrey, beat Bryan College 84-65 in an exhibition on Oct. 29. The program brings seven newcomers into the fold after finishing 8-23 a year ago. WKU is 81-20 all-time against Tennessee Tech, while head coach Rick Stansbury has never faced the Golden Eagles.

• WKU is 68-32 all-time in season openers. The Hilltoppers have won 13 of their last 15 home openers and are 81-19 all-time in the season's first home game.
• The Hilltoppers and Tennessee Tech have played 101 times dating back to 1922, but the former Ohio Valley Conference rivals haven't met since 2002 in Hawaii. WKU is 42-6 at home vs. the Golden Eagles.

• WKU head coach Rick Stansbury and Tennessee Tech head coach John Pelphrey previously competed against each other 12 times while Stansbury was the head coach at Mississippi State and Pelphrey was at South Alabama and Arkansas. • Junior guard Taveion Hollingsworth needs just four points in Tuesday's game to reach 1,000 for his career. He would become the 50th player in program history to score 1,000 points as a Hilltopper.

• The Hilltoppers return 75.2 percent of their scoring, 64.1 percent of their rebounding, 48.4 percent of their assists, 74.1 percent of their blocks and 69.4 percent of their steals from 2018-19. WKU returns its top four leading scorers in Charles Bassey, Taveion Hollingsworth, Jared Savage and Josh Anderson – all of whom averaged between 12.1 and 14.6 points per game.

• WKU has the fifth-longest streak in the nation of consecutive games with a made 3-pointer at 1,010. Only UNLV (1,071), Vanderbilt (1,063), Duke (1,060) and Arkansas (1,011) have longer streaks.

Filip Videnov scored 17 points, and Jamaal Brown added a career-high 16 to lead WKU to a 74-51 victory over Tennessee Tech in the third-place game of the 39th Annual Outrigger Hotels Rainbow Classic at the Stan Sheriff Center.

Videnov tied a career high with five 3-point field goals in leading WKU in scoring for the second time in as many nights. Brown was 5-of-8 from the floor and added a career-high-tying five rebounds, while Patrick Sparks scored 11 points and handed out nine assists.

Nate Williams recorded eight points and a game-high seven rebounds, with Anthony Winchester adding seven and six, respectively.
