WKU Soccer Closes Out Regular Season at Marshall

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — The WKU soccer team will close out the 2019 regular season on the road on Friday. The Lady Toppers take on Marshall at 6 p.m. (CST).

WKU (9-6-1, 5-4-0 C-USA) is coming off of a 1-0 shutout win against UAB on Senior Night at WKU Soccer Complex. In their final game at home, the Lady Topper seniors went out in style, contributing in every way. Chandley Backes scored the game-winning goal in the second half. Christina Bragado and Kaylyn Bryant were integral parts of holding UAB to only two shots on goal and Anne-Marie Ulliac secured a clean sheet in the win.

Marshall (4-13, 2-7 C-USA) comes into the match on a five-match losing streak. Most recently, the Thundering Herd fell to Louisiana Tech, 3-2.

The Lady Toppers are led on the offensive front by Ambere Barnett who has 16 points on the season with five goals and six assists. Ashley Leonard, Ansley Cate and Deven Jackson join her in double digits points. Barnett is the C-USA leading shot taker, firing 70 shots this season which ranks 20th in the country and is the most in a single-season for a WKU player.

Leonard has scored a team-leading seven goals this season. Overall, nine Lady Toppers have found the back of the net in 2019.

Ulliac has shut out six opponents this season, which ties as the second most among C-USA goalkeepers. Her 0.97 goals against average is the fourth best in the league.

Marshall is led by Marah Abu-Tayeh this season with 22 points on eight goals and six assists. Farah Abu-Tayeh is the second leading point earner with 12 on four goals and four assists.

In goal, Lindsay Langley has played in 15 of the Thundering Herd's 17 contests. She has a 2.45 goals against average and a 72.4 save percentage.
