Lady Toppers Host UAB on Senior Night

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — The WKU soccer team will honor four seniors on Senior Night at WKU Soccer Complex on Friday night. The Lady Toppers will face UAB at 6 p.m. and admission is free.

WKU (8-6-1, 4-4 C-USA) will be playing in their last home match of the season on Friday against the Blazers (4-5-5, 2-3-2 C-USA) with only two matches total left in the regular season.

Chandler Backes, Kaylyn Bryant, Christina Bragado and Anne-Marie Ulliac all will be honored during the Senior Night ceremonies following the match. The senior class has been involved in over 30 wins as Lady Toppers and each have contributed in major ways to the program.

As the season winds down, each conference match provides opportunities to solidify postseason play. The top eight teams in the Conference USA standings will compete in the C-USA Championship in Denton, Texas following the regular season. WKU is currently fifth in the standings with a 4-4 record in league play. UAB is in a two-way tie for 10th place.

Ambere Barnett currently leads WKU in points with 16 on the season with five goals and six assists. Ashley Leonard is the leading goal-scorer for the Lady Toppers with seven on the year. Ulliac has been the starting goalkeeper for WKU this season, starting in all 15 matches. She's put up five shutouts and made 63 saves, both are the second most among C-USA keepers.

Megan Hudgens leads the Blazers with nine points this season on four goals and an assist. Eve Beyer and Johanna Popp have split time in goal for UAB. Popp has a 1.24 goals against average through eight matches, while Beyer has a 0.69 GAA through six.

The series history between the two programs has been pretty even with a 2-2-1 record for both teams. WKU is 2-0 at home against the Blazers, including a 2-0 win in 2016.
