BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – WKU Tennis continues its opening stretch of road play at Austin Peay on Saturday. The match will begin at 12 p.m. CT, at the Governors Tennis Center in Clarksville, Tenn.
Austin Peay (2-0) is coming off an opening weekend sweep where the Governors defeated both Middle Tennessee and Chattanooga, 4-3. MTSU is slated as the final opponent of WKU's spring regular season, while the Lady Tops defeated two Mocs opponents at the Chattanooga Fall Invite.
In 2018, the Govs finished 12-9 after advancing to the Ohio Valley Championship where they fell to EKU 4-3.
The Lady Toppers head to the Volunteer State following their loss at [RV] Kentucky last Friday. Sophomore Laura Bernardos and freshman Zeniece Charles-Hall picked up four games each in their matches against the Wildcats.
"Austin Peay is always deep in its line-up and has been known to compete really well," said head coach Greg Davis. "We have been focusing a great deal on our conditioning this week as well as our court positioning. Our team is improving daily and this is a rivalry that goes back many years, so we know APSU will be a challenge."
WKU (0-1) leads the all-time series against Austin Peay 29-8. The series between the two teams dates back to 1981. The Lady Toppers have won the last three and hold a 15-6 mark in Clarksville.
