Lady Tops Defeated by Govs at Austin Peay

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – WKU Tennis fell 7-0 in its match on Saturday to longtime rival Austin Peay at the Governors Tennis Center. The Lady Toppers were led by junior Lisa Friess who notched six game victories during her singles match.

In doubles action, the Lady Toppers freshmen duo, Zeniece Charles-Hall and Judit Gonzalez Agud, was defeated 6-1 against their Austin Peay opponent. The Governors won the No. 3 spot by default and were awarded the doubles point.

At the time Austin Peay clinched the doubles point, sophomore Laura Bernardos and Friess were leading the No. 1 doubles match 5-2.

WKU's No. 1 singles competitor, Bernardos, was defeated by a Governor 6-2, 6-1. Friess led the Lady Toppers in games won at six total, but ultimately fell to her opponent 6-2, 6-4.

England-native Charles-Hall picked up three game wins in her No. 4 match. The freshman was defeated 6-0, 6-3.

Both Gonzalez Agud and freshman Kyla Dilger fell to their Austin Peay competition 6-0, 6-0.

The Lady Toppers are back in action next Saturday, Feb. 2, at Belmont.
