BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – WKU Tennis continues its opening stretch of six matches away from home, traveling to the Music City this weekend. The Lady Toppers are set to face the Bruins of Belmont on Saturday at 6 p.m. at the Ensworth High School Tennis Center for their third match of the season.
Belmont (1-2) has one home win thus far in the 2019 spring season. The Bruins have competed against Samford and Alabama, and defeated Martin Methodist in their home opener last weekend. Belmont's team consists of one senior, six sophomores and two freshmen.
Lady Topper Tennis (0-2) is coming off a defeat from Austin Peay in Clarksville, Tenn. Junior Lisa Friess and sophomore Laura Bernardos led the Red and White against the Govs. Friess won six games in her singles match and the duo was ahead 5-2 in doubles when Austin Peay clinched the doubles point.
"Belmont is a young team that's getting better every match," said head coach Greg Davis of the young Bruins. "We played great in doubles last week, at times, and we've focused more on our singles this week in practice. We are working hard to put everything together at the same time."
