BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — Coming off the best 54-hole team performance in program history, the WKU Lady Topper Golf squad heads into its second tournament of the fall this week at the Boston College Intercollegiate.

The Lady Toppers will be one of 17 programs competing Monday and Tuesday at the par-72, 6,137-yard Blue Hills Country Club in Canton, Mass.

Teams will play 36 holes Monday beginning with a 7:45 a.m. CT shotgun start, while the final round begins at 7 a.m. Tuesday with tee times.

WKU had a record-breaking outing in its first tournament of the year last week at the USA Intercollegiate. The Lady Toppers shot an 868 team total, breaking the previous program record for 54 holes by 10 strokes.

Junior Mary Joiner claimed her fifth career win – extending her program record – while she and fellow juniors Bailey Tyree and Abigail Smee also shot the lowest three-round totals of their careers.

Joiner finished the tournament at 8 under par, and Tyree and Smee each shot 1 under.
Â
"We did really good for the first tournament," Tyree said. "I was really pleased with how we did, because normally it's very hard for us to shoot an even-par round, but everybody played really well."

Joiner was named Conference USA Co-Golfer of the Week on Wednesday for her victory, which required a comeback after entering the final day three shots behind the leader.

Joiner shot a program-record 208 for the tournament, including a 69 on the final day, and tied for the lead in the field with 14 total birdies.

"Obviously couldn't have asked for a better start to the year," Joiner said. "The team played really solid. Bailey and Abbie played really well, so I was happy for them. And I was just excited to get a win. I wasn't really expecting it, but it feels really good and I'm looking forward to seeing what we can do in Boston this week."

Joiner, Tyree and Smee will once again be joined by WKU sophomore Megan Clarke and freshman Lizzie Loy in the lineup this week in Boston.
