BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — WKU Lady Topper Golf won't have to travel far for its final tournament of the regular season.
The Lady Toppers will be one of 15 programs competing in Eastern Kentucky's Colonel Classic on Friday and Saturday at the par-72, 5,815-yard University Club at Arlington in Richmond, Ky.
This is the second time this season that WKU has competed in Kentucky and the first since Kentucky's Betty Lou Evans Collegiate in October. Teams will play the first two rounds Friday beginning with a shotgun start at 7:30 a.m. CT, while the final round is slated to begin at 8 a.m.
The Lady Toppers are coming off a fourth-place finish earlier this week in Georgia State's John Kirk Panther Intercollegiate. They finished the first round in ninth place and steadily moved up the leaderboard each round.
On the individual side, senior Georgina Blackman led the way with a tie for fifth – her fourth top-five result of the season – while senior Katie Story also found the top 20 in a tie for 14th.
Those seniors will be in team competition for WKU at Eastern Kentucky, along with sophomores Mary Joiner and Bailey Tyree, and freshman Megan Clarke. Sophomore Abigail Smee and freshman Caroline Cavin will play as individuals.
This is the final tune-up for the Lady Toppers before they participate in the Conference USA Championship in April in Fort Myers, Fla.
