Â

Â

LOOKING AT THE BLAZERS:
UAB enters Thursday's contest with a 13-14 reading on the season which includes a 5-8 mark in Conference USA matches. WKU will look to even the season series after UAB claimed a 3-1 victory in Bowling Green in mid-October.
Â
In that meeting on Oct. 12, Rachel Anderson recorded her 400th career block along with eight kills. Sophia Cerino led the way with 10 kills while Lauren Matthews added nine. Payton Frederick led WKU in digs with 16 while Darby Music worked into double figures at 10.
Â
The Blazers have dropped their last two decisions entering Thursday night's contest. Most recently, UAB dropped a four-set decision to Rice in Houston. Prior to that, the Blazers fell at Southern Miss in another four-set match.
Â
UAB returns 12 of its 16 letterwinners from an 11-19 campaign a year ago. In the all-time series, WKU trails UAB 23-9 but is 6-1 against the Blazers since joining Conference USA.
Â
SCOUTING THE LADY TECHSTERS:
WKU Volleyball will close out its regular season slate from Ruston, La., on Saturday afternoon. LA Tech enters the final weekend with a 6-21 record and a 1-11 reading in league matches. The Lady Techsters have dropped their last 11 outings with their most recent win coming on Sept. 23 in a four-set win over Middle Tennessee.
Â
Louisiana Tech lost eight of its 15 letterwinners from last year's 7-21 squad. Three starters and the team's libero were lost as well.
Â
The Lady Toppers lead the all-time series with Saturday's host by a 12-7 margin. WKU has claimed each of the last seven meetings between the sides dating back to the 1999 campaign. In that span, Louisiana Tech has claimed just one set off the Red and White.
Â
NEXT UP:
Next up for the Lady Toppers will be another appearance in the Conference USA Tournament. Action from Huntington, W.Va., begins on Friday, Nov. 16. Rice has locked up the top seed while the Lady Toppers could finish as high as second still. The tournament host, Marshall, will not make the eight-team field, ending a streak of the host playing in the championship match at three seasons.
