BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — WKU Hilltopper Golf heads into its final event of the fall season this week at Kennesaw State's Pinetree Intercollegiate looking to seize some momentum.
Â
The Hilltoppers tied for ninth last week at Georgia State, although they did record their second tournament under par in three attempts this season. WKU had two such outings all last year.
Â
WKU is one of 11 teams competing at the par-72, 7,108-yard Pinetree Country Club in Kennesaw, Ga. Teams will play 36 holes Monday starting at 7 a.m. CT, with the final round slated for Tuesday.
Â
"We didn't get the finish we wanted at Georgia State, but we know what we need to improve from last week's event," WKU head coach Chan Metts said. "Going into Kennesaw State's event at Pinetree Country Club, we should be more prepared because we just went through the transition to Bermuda greens. This course will play very similar to that course. The last event of the fall is always important because we want to carry as much momentum as possible in the offseason."
Â
Redshirt senior Billy Tom Sargent, senior Stuart Easton, redshirt junior Linus Lo, junior Tom Bevington and sophomore Crimson Callahan will represent WKU in the final event of the fall.
Â
Sargent led the Hilltoppers at Georgia State with three straight rounds under par, tying for 17th. Bevington was one shot back in a tie for 19th with a 213 total, the lowest 54-hole score of his career.
