Day 1 Results
EUGENE, Ore. - In front of a packed crowd at Hayward Field, the Hilltoppers' track and field squad earned three honorable mention All-America honors in the long jump, 400-meter dash and 4x400m relay at the NCAA Track and Field Outdoor National Championships Wednesday evening.
Senior Ventavius Sears finished 20th with a mark of 7.26m (23'10") in the long jump. It marks his eighth All-America honor as the Georgia native earned honorable mention.
Olympian Emmanuel Dasor crossed the finish line in 47.03 seconds in the 400-meter dash, finishing in 23rd place. The Ghana native earned his ninth All-America honor as he also earned honorable mention.
"What Ventavius Sears and Emmanuel Dasor have done for this program is to be applauded," commented head coach Erik Jenkins. "It's a testament to the work of the student-athletes, training staff and coaches."
Julius Morris, who earned a spot in the 100-meter dash, did not compete Wednesday evening due to injury.
The 4x400m relay squad of Austin Hayes, Eli Minor, Sears and Maor Seged turned in a time of 3:08.85, finishing in 20th place to garner honorable mention All-America status.
With the season coming to a close, the final meet continued Jenkins' streak (10 years) of having at least one All-American on his roster.
