2015-16 (Junior) - (Indoor): Named Men’s High Point Scorer of the Meet after posting 32 points on his own en route to WKU's back-to-back C-USA Championship...Honored as the C-USA Male Field Athlete of the Meet...Third-Team All-Conference in 400-meter dash after a 47.14 time at the C-USA Championships...Won the C-USA Championship long jump title with a mark of 25'1.25", earning First-Team All-Conference recognition...Also won the triple jump at the C-USA Championships, covering a distance of 52'8.70" for First-Team All-Conference honors...Qualified for the NCAA Indoor Championships in the triple jump...Earned Second-Team All-American status in triple jump...Tied himself for the third-best long jump in program history (25'1.25")...Set the school record in the triple jump, clearing 52'8 11/16". (Outdoor): First-Team All-American as part of the 4x100 Hilltopper relay team...Also an Honorable-Mention All-American for his part on the 4x100 relay squad...Finished third in the C-USA Championships 400-meter dash for Third-Team All-Conference honors (46.82)...Took second place in the C-USA Championship long jump competition with a jump of 25'5.25"... 2014-15 (Sophomore) – (Indoor): Sears accounted for a team-high 23 points in WKU’s run to the C-USA Indoor Championship in Birmingham, Ala. The versatile Sears turned in All-Conference USA performances in the long jump (2nd – 7.65m), 200-meter dash (3rd - 21.30), 400-meter dash (3rd – 47.68) and also tacked on points in the triple jump with a sixth-place showing at the C-USA Indoor Championships. Sears’ runner-up long jump mark of 7.65 meters was the third-longest jump every by a Hilltopper in indoor competition…During the regular season, Sears posted eight Top 3 finishes across his four individual events, which included a long jump victory at the Gene Edmonds Invitational (7.34m). (Outdoor): Sears put together one of the strongest outdoor seasons by a Hilltopper in recent memory as he captured individual First Team All-American honors with an eighth-place finish in the long jump (7.76m) while also running a leg on WKU’s 11th-place 4x100-meter relay that nabbed Second Team All-American status at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. He became the fourth Hilltopper in program history and first since 2010 to earn All-American honors in the long jump with his eighth-place showing at the NCAA Championships…Sears advanced to nationals by hitting a career-best mark of 7.84 meters in the long jump at the NCAA East Preliminary Championships to finish third at the regional meet. He also finished two spots shy of advancing to Eugene in the 200-meter dash as he came in 14th at the NCAA East Prelims, where the Top 12 finishers head to nationals…Sears was the long jump champion at the C-USA Outdoor Championships with a wind-aided mark of 7.98 meters. He led WKU with 24 individual points at the league championships after winning the long jump, placing second in the 200-meter dash (20.83), fourth in the triple jump (15.63m), seventh in the 400-meter dash (47.48m) while also running legs of WKU’s title-winning 4x100-meter relay and third-place 4x400-meter relay…He ran the second leg for both relays that posted the league’s fastest times during the regular season and also had the furthest long jump of the season individually.
2013-14 (Freshman) - (Indoor): Sears was named the Sun Belt Conference Men's Most Outstanding Freshman as a rookie after scoring points in four different events at the SBC Indoor Championships. He secured all-league honors in the long jump with a third-place finish at 24-feet-1 inch (7.34m), fourth in the 200-meter dash (21.35), fifth in the triple jump (14.80m) and eighth in the 60-meter dash (6.92)...During the regular season, Sears posted 10 Top 5 finishes in the long jump, triple, jump and sprinting events. (Outdoor): Sears was a First-Team All-American in 2014 following WKU's Top 5 finishes in the 4x100 and 4x400-meter relays at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Sears ran the second leg for both relays, which qualified for finals for the first time in program history. The 4x4 finished fourth and the 4x1 finished fifth, making WKU the only non-SEC team in the nation to place Top 5 in both relays...Both relays set school records, with Sears running the third leg when each fell. The 4x100 relay set the new record at 39.18 seconds during the semifinals at the NCAA Championships while the 4x4 record dropped to 3:03.02 during the NCAA East Preliminary Championships...In addition to the relays, Sears also qualified for the NCAA East Preliminary Championships in the long jump and triple jump. He was a quarter of an inch away from advancing to the NCAA Championships in the long jump, but his 13th-place mark of 24-feet-7 inches (7.49m) was just shy of the Top 12...At the SBC Outdoor Championships, Sears finished runner-up in the triple jump with a career-long leap of 50-feet-8 ¾ inches (15.46m) and third in the 200-meter dash at 20.58 seconds to garner All-SBC honors. Sears' 200-meter dash time of 20.58 seconds was the fourth-fastest time in school history.
HIGH SCHOOL: Sears was ranked as the 27th best high school triple jumper in 2012 while placing third at the AAU Club Nationals with a personal-best leap of 49-feet-1 ½ inches. He won the triple jump at the 2013 Georgia State Championships. At the Georgia Olympics in May 2012, Sears posted a second-place finish in the triple jump with a mark of 47-feet-4 inches and earned fourth-place honors in the 400-meter dash with a personal record clocking of 48.14 seconds. At last year's AAU Club Nationals, Sears notched a personal-best 400-meter hurdle time of 54.0 seconds, good enough for 12th-place honors. Sears also excels in the long jump, 400-meter dash and 200-meter dash, where he holds personal records of 22-feet-10 inches and, 10.69 seconds and 21.74 seconds, respectively.
