BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - Tied for the youngest team in Conference USA, WKU Softball has earned the eighth seed in the C-USA Tournament that will take place from Wednesday through Saturday in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. The eighth-seeded Hilltoppers are slated to take on No. 5-seeded UAB on Wednesday at noon CT.
The winner of the WKU-UAB rematch will go on to face No. 4 Florida Atlantic in a 5 p.m. tilt on Wednesday. The Red and White hosted the Blazers during the regular season in a series that took 23 innings to decide. UAB claimed the series 2-1, while the Hilltoppers owned the run differential advantage at 9-7.
On the other side of the bracket, sixth-seeded Charlotte will take on seventh-seeded North Texas at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday. The winner of that game will take on No. 3 seed Louisiana Tech in Wednesday's finale.
Top-seeded Marshall and No. 2 seeded FIU both received double byes into the tournament's quarterfinals when the bracket takes on a double elimination format.
All 10 games of the 2017 Conference USA Tournament from the campus of Southern Miss will be streamed both on Youtube and on beIN Sports or beIN Connect with the exception of the championship contest which will be aired on CBSSN.
In WKU's last outing in the C-USA Tournament in 2015, also the school's first year in the league, the Hilltoppers posted a 3-0 record in the tournament to take home the title.
