BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - The WKU Cheerleading team will compete in the Universal Cheerleader Association College National Cheerleading Championships at Disney's ESPN Wide World of Sports in Orlando, Fla., this weekend.
Both the WKU Co-ed and All-Girl Cheerleading squads have created and perfected routines that they will perform in the Division I program. The All-Girl squad is set to compete at 3:44 p.m. (CT) on Saturday afternoon, while the Co-ed squad will compete at 6:09 p.m. (CT) on Saturday as well.
The top-placing teams of every division will move on to compete in Sunday's national championships that can be seen beginning at 5:30 p.m. (CT).
Last year, the WKU Co-ed squad brought home an eighth-place finish and the WKU All-Girl squad earned a program-record third-place finish. Last year, WKU was one of only two programs to have a pair of teams finish in the top 10 in two different divisions, joining Alabama.
This year's squads have the opportunity to earn a prize credit toward the entry into the 2018 event and potential for the routines to be featured on ESPN, typically shown sometime in March 2017.
Full performance schedules for both squads can be found at the link above. To follow results on social media, use the official event hashtag #UCANationals and follow UCA on Twitter at @UCAUpdates. UCA also offers a live stream for the entire weekend for $39.99 that allows fans to watch their favorite teams compete.
WKU's Co-ed squad is coached by Tom and Sarah Jones and the All-Girl squad is coached by Joshua Bewley, Joni Hall and Lori Bewley.
