BOWLING GREEN, Ky. -- WKU Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field teams captured a total of nine events as the Hilltopper Relays this past weekend in the program's lone home meet of the 2016 season.
The WKU sprinting duo of Julius Morris and Emmanuel Dasor captured a total of three events led by Morris who won both the 100-meter and 200-meter races. Morris finished the 100-meter dash with a season-best time of 10.54 seconds and placed first in the 200-meter after clocking a time of 21.11 seconds.
Dasor, along with former WKU great Elvyon Bailey and current freshman Maor Seged turned in a 1-2-3 finish in the 400-meter event. Dasor broke the meet record with a time of 46.55 seconds followed by Bailey (46.83) and Seged (48.01).
Other individual standout performances came from seniors Aaron Stevens and Vincent Wyatt as the duo shined in their final home meet of their WKU careers. Stevens placed first in the 3,000 meter steeple chase event with a time of 9:29.78 and Wyatt placed second in the 110 hurdles after notching an effort of 14.00 seconds.
Seged rounded out WKU's top three performances after turning out a third place finish in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 53.03 seconds.
WKU also notched the top spot in the 4x100 meter relay as the Hilltopper `A' team of Emmanuel Dasor, Kyree King, Julius Morris and Ventavius Sears smoked the competition after clocking a time of 39.94 seconds.
Sophomore Nick Demaline turned in WKU's pest field performance on the weekend after finishing in second place in the shotput competition with a throw of 18.20 meters.
The Lady Toppers recorded a total of five first place finishes on the track.
WKU nabbed the top two spots in the 100-meter dash as junior Carrol Hardy captured the event with a time of 11.76 seconds while Jadzia Beasley placed second after clocking an effort of 11.78 seconds.
Hardy recorded her second top-two finish on the weekend in the 200-meter dash after placing second, behind former WKU great Chioma Agwunobi, with a time of 24.27 seconds. Agwunobi took the event with a time of 24.04.
WKU placed a pair of runners in the top three of the 400-meter dash as seniors Tashauna Yapchung and Shantol Hemley finished their final home meet placing second and third respectively. Yapchung turned in a time of 56.20 seconds while Hemley clocked in a time of 56.49 seconds.
Another WKU senior shined bright on the track as Jessica Gelibert captured the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 59.04 seconds.
Three Lady Topper relay teams turned in top-three performances on the track led by WKU's `A' 4x400 team of Yapchung, Khadijah Valentine, Ariel Terrell and Gelibert who captured the event with a run of 3:43.96.
Two WKU teams placed in the top three in the 4x100 meter relay event as the `A' team of Gelibert, Valentine, Peli Alzola and Hardy placed second with a time of 45.84 while the `B' squad of Beasley, Sandra Akachukwu, Terrell and Yapchung placed third after clocking a run of 47.42 seconds.
WKU Track and Field is set to return to the track by traveling to Norwalk, California, to compete at the Mt. SAC Relays. The two-day event will begin Thursday, April 14, and continue through Saturday, April 16.
