Box Score BOWLING GREEN, Ky. -- WKU softball couldn't overcome miscues on a cold and rainy day at the WKU softball complex as the Lady Toppers fell to FIU, 16-7, in five innings as the two teams concluded the weekend series Sunday afternoon.
The Panthers used 12 hits to record their 16 runs as FIU (18-14, 4-2 C-USA) plated runs in four of its five innings.
WKU was led once again by Jordan Mauch as the sophomore went perfect at the plate (2-for-2) with both hits being doubles. She also finished with a pair of RBI and now has a team-high 17 on the year.
Kelsey McGuffin registered her second career home run in the third inning with a two-run blast to left field. The rookie finished the day with a team-best three RBI.
WKU (10-13, 2-1 C-USA) came into today's finale with Panthers having already captured the series as the Lady Toppers swept a doubleheader with FIU Saturday afternoon.
The Lady Toppers are set to return to the field this weekend as WKU will continue C-USA play by hosting a three-game series with North Texas at the WKU Softball Complex.
The series commences Friday with a doubleheader starting at 3 p.m. CT and will conclude with a noon CT contest Saturday.
