BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — WKU redshirt-senior Nigel Snipes was selected to the 2016 All-Conference USA Tournament team, the league announced after Saturday's championship game.
Snipes helped WKU to the semifinals of the tournament, marking the 11th time in the last 12 seasons the Hilltoppers have played in the final four of the league tournament, by averaging 17.3 points per game and draining 14 three-pointers in three tournament games.
Snipes was 14-for-25 from three-point distance (.560) and shot 56.7 percent from the floor overall (17-for-30). He was 4-for-7 from three in each of the first two games, going for 16 points in the second round against North Texas and 18 in the quarterfinal win over top-seeded UAB, and he drained a career-best six triples against Old Dominion in Friday's semifinal game.
Joining Snipes on the all-tournament team were Aaron Bacote and Trey Freeman from Old Dominion and Perrin Buford and tournament most valuable player Reggie Upshaw from champion Middle Tennessee.
Snipes is WKU's first All-Conference USA Tournament honoree in WKU's second season in the league. He is also the first Hilltopper to receive all-tournament honors since George Fant, Brandon Harris and T.J. Price in 2013 in the Sun Belt Conference.
