BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – As part of WKU Week at Bowling Green Ballpark, Hilltopper head coaches John Pawlowski (baseball) and Jeff Brohm (football) will each throw out the first pitch at a Bowling Green Hot Rods game this week.
Pawlowski will do the honors on Wednesday night, followed by Brohm on Thursday. Both games are slated to start at 7:05 p.m. CT.
Fans will also have an opportunity to meet former Hilltopper All-American and current Tennessee Titans running back Antonio Andrews at the game Wednesday. There are daily promotions running for the three-game homestand and tickets can be found BGHotRods.com.
Pawlowski will be entering his first season at the helm of WKU baseball in 2015, boasting 505 wins and 11 NCAA Tournament appearances in his career. The veteran manager has developed 80 MLB Draft selections (50 pitchers) during his 22-year coaching tenure at the collegiate level. Pawlowski won over 60 percent of his games in 14 seasons at College of Charleston, which included six seasons with at least 36 wins, three NCAA Regional appearances and a Super Regional appearance in 2006.
Brohm and the 2015 C-USA East Division favorite Hilltoppers have been working through the final week of fall camp to prepare for the upcoming football season. WKU ended the last campaign with five straight victories and the school's first FBS bowl victory over Central Michigan in the Bahamas Bowl. On the year, the Hilltoppers finished as the No. 4 offense in the NCAA, averaging 534.6 yards, No. 2 passing offense at 374.3 yards and broke 50 team and individual offensive records.
The season opener is Thursday, Sept. 3, in Nashville, Tennessee, against Vanderbilt at 7 p.m. CT on the SEC Network. WKU will host 2014 C-USA West Division champion Louisiana Tech on Thursday, Sept. 10, for the home opener.
