BOWLING GREEN, Ky. -- A total of 32 current or former WKU student-athletes will graduate this weekend in commencement ceremonies on The Hill. The 32 student-athletes represent nine sports, and the average cumulative grade point average of the group is 2.88.
The degrees obtained by the student-athletes this weekend include finance, marketing, psychological science, photo journalism, management and agriculture, among many others.
A total of 111 WKU student-athletes have graduated in the past calendar year, with 79 earning their degrees in May 2015. The average cumulative GPA of the 111 is 3.03.
In the spring, WKU recognized 56 student-athletes who received Conference USA Academic Medals for having a grade point average of 3.75 or higher, the most of any school in the league, and a total of 197 WKU student-athletes, nearly 54 percent of its total number, earned Commissioner's Honor Roll recognition from C-USA for maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better during the 2014-15 academic year.
In the NCAA's latest Academic Progress Rate (APR) release in the spring, each of WKU's 18 teams exceeded the mandated 930 APR score by at least 17 points.
