Team Records and Series Notes
- Captains for WKU were Nick Holt, Forrest Lamp, Gavin Rocker and Wonderful Terry. Marshall won the toss and deferred. The attendance for the game was 17,687.
- WKU improves to 10-2, while Marshall falls to 9-3. Marshall leads the overall series 4-3.
- WKU wins the C-USA East Division title and will host the winner of the LA Tech/Southern Miss game on Saturday in the C-USA Championship game next week.
- The 10 wins by WKU are the most in the FBS era and most since the 2002 National Championship team.
- The win is the 11th-straight for WKU over C-USA opponents, which is the longest active streak in the FBS and longest streak in school history.

- It's also the longest streak since in C-USA since UCF won 11-straight over the years of 2009-10.
- The Hilltoppers become just the seventh team in C-USA history to finish undefeated in the regular season of conference play. The last team to do so was the Houston team in 2011.
- WKU has posted a 11-1 record in the month of November since 2013.
Team Notes.
- WKU scored on its opening drive of the game, which the Hilltoppers have done in every home game this season except for one.
- The Hilltoppers held Marshall to negative four yards rushing in the first half and just 116 yards of total offense.
- WKU held Marshall to just 31 rushing yards, which were the lowest given up by the Hilltoppers since allowing 27 against Troy in 2011.

- The 27 yards are the lowest for Marshall since gaining 26 yards against Southern Miss in 2009.
Player Notes
- Brandon Doughty became the third quarterback in FBS history to have consecutive seasons with 4,000 passing yards and 40 touchdowns as he finished the game with 370 yards and five touchdowns.

- He also becomes just the 15th player in FBS history to have multiple seasons of 4,000 yards.
- In the first half this season, Doughty is now 216-of-300 (72.0) for 3,053 yards, 32 touchdowns and three INTs. He was 24-of-31 for 336 yards and four touchdowns in today's first half. It was his fifth game this season where he threw for at least 300 yards by halftime.
- With his five touchdowns, he moved into eighth in C-USA history with 42 touchdowns in a single season. He joins Houston's Case Keenum and Marshall's Rakeem Cato as the only three players to have multiple seasons in the Top 10.
- He also moved to sixth in conference history with 4184 passing yards this season, joining Keenum as the only two quarterbacks to have multiple seasons in the Top 10.
- Taywan Taylor set the single-season mark for receptions in a season at WKU with 71 this year. He finished the contest with 47 yards on three catches and added a touchdown.

- With his touchdowns, Taylor now has 22 receiving touchdowns for his career, moving into a tie for first in WKU history.
- Anthony Wales had his sixth-straight 100-yard rushing game against C-USA opposition, ending the game with 131 yards on 24 carries and adding a touchdown.

- He is just the sixth running back in C-USA history to accomplish the feat.
- This his fourth-straight overall, which ties for the seventh-longest streak for a single season in WKU history.
- In the last five C-USA games, Wales has combined for 865 yards and seven rushing touchdowns
- Tyler Higbee returned for WKU, posting two touchdowns on six catches for 92 yards.
- Jared Dangerfield pushed his season tally to 67 receptions, which are the third-most in WKU history. He is the only receiver in WKU history to have multiple seasons of 60-plus catches.
- Ge'Monee Brown recovered the first fumble of his career after Nick Holt stripped the ball.
- Nick Holt finished the game with a career-high two interceptions and a forced fumble.
- With his two field goals made, Garrett Schwettman became WKU's all-time leader in career field goals made with 52. He now holds the records for field goals, PATs and points in his career on The Hill.
- The 77 receiving yards by Antwane Grant were a new career-high. He also had four catches and a touchdown.
