The Lady Toppers are tied with UE in the all-time series at nine wins each to go with one tie. WKU won the last two meetings, including a 6-2 win last year in Indiana, while also taking four of the last six contests. WKU holds a 5-2-1 mark in home games against the Purple Aces.
In last year's meeting in Evansville, six of this season's returners recorded one hit each, including the usual top five of the 2014 batting order. Juniors Preslie Cruce and Jacqueline McGill each had a RBI in the game. Fellow classmate Janna Scheff tallied the win in the circle after she gave up five hits and one earned run in the complete-game outing. She allowed three walks while striking out a pair of batters.
WKU is coming off a grueling week of games, falling in five tough games to opponents ranked in the top 25 or receiving votes in the national polls. Senior Amanda Thomas led the team in the week with a .474 batting average, notching a hit in each game to total nine hits. The Texas native went 3-for-4 at the plate against Kentucky as well as game three versus South Alabama while she recorded a team-high six RBI, including two in each of the final games against the Jaguars.
After the home game, WKU heads to Atlanta to face Georgia State for the program's final Sun Belt Conference regular-season series. The Lady Toppers face the Panthers in a single game on Friday, May 2 at 5 p.m. CT before a doubleheader on Saturday, May 3 beginning at noon CT.
