BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - WKU Soccer (6-4, 1-2 C-USA) returns to the confines of the WKU Soccer Complex this weekend to host a pair of Conference USA foes in UTEP (8-5-1, 2-2) and UTSA (5-6-1, 1-3). First touch against the Miners is set for 6 p.m. (CT) on Friday while Sunday's match versus the Roadrunners will begin at 1 p.m.
The Lady Toppers are aiming to get back on track after dropping a double-overtime heartbreaker at Old Dominion and falling to Charlotte at home last weekend. WKU has not lost back-to-back conference home games since October, 2005 and hopes to keep that streak intact Friday against a UTEP team that split against Rice and North Texas last weekend. Both the Owls and Mean Green have received votes in the NSCAA Coaches Poll this season.
Junior forward Lauren Moats continues to spearhead the Lady Toppers' attack, netting a team-high five goals and 11 points. Moats scored at ODU last Friday for her 15th career goal, which moved her into a tie for eighth place in WKU history. The attack is looking to improve this weekend as well after only putting six shots on goal in two games last weekend.
UTEP has been sparked by the play of junior forward Angela Cutaia, who has scored six goals and dished out a pair of assists to pace the Miners with 14 points. The Miners feature six different players with multiple assists this season, including Hannah Nicholson (5) and Bri Barreiro (4).
UTSA has lost four of its last five games and has given up 14 goals in that span. Freshman forward Jenny Trommer's three goals leads a group of five Roadrunners with multiple scores in 2014.
