BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - WKU Soccer senior Allie Auscherman has been named a Capital One CoSIDA Academic All-District® selection, the organization announced Thursday. Auscherman is one of three midfielders and one of 14 players overall representing District II on the Academic All-District®Team.
Auscherman has been an exemplary student-athlete during her time at WKU, posting a cumulative GPA of 3.96 as an exercise science major. The Carmel, Ind. native has recorded a perfect 4.0 GPA in five of her six completed semesters and been on the President's List in all three years of her career.
Auscherman' s selection to the CoSIDA Academic All-District®Team makes her the 14th Lady Topper honored by the organization in the 14-year history of WKU Soccer. Including academic honors from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA), head coach Jason Neidell has coached his student athletes to a combined 35 Academic All-District or All-Region honors since 2001.
Her selection to the CoSIDA Academic All-District®Team puts Auscherman on the Capital One Academic All-America®ballot, which is open for voting on Nov. 4.
Auscherman has been an iron woman on the playing field for WKU, appearing in 78 of a possible 79 matches in her career, which includes 59 starts. Auscherman has logged 5,378 minutes of action during her four seasons on the Hill, an average of 68.9 minutes per match as a holding midfielder.
The defensive anchor of WKU's midfield, Auscherman has been on the pitch for 38 WKU shutouts since 2011. She tied a WKU single-season record with 22 matches played as a rookie in 2011 and helped lead the Lady Toppers to the 2011 and 2013 Sun Belt Tournament Championship matches.
Auscherman has also been able to contribute offensively during her career, netting three goals and dishing out three assists despite her primarily defensive role. She is the lone senior on the 2014 WKU squad, captaining a team that has clinched a berth in the Conference USA Women's Soccer Championship during its first season in the league.
She'll lead the Lady Toppers into their regular-season finale at North Texas Friday night before next Wednesday's quarterfinal match in the Conference USA Championship.
