BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - WKU's home contest with Marshall on Feb. 14, 2015 will be televised by the Fox Sports Network, it was announced today.
When WKU and Marshall meet in January, the first of two meetings between the programs this season - including the televised game in February, it will mark WKU's inaugural conference game as a member of Conference USA and first meeting with Marshall since Jan. 5, 1977, a 92-56 win for the Lady Toppers. WKU leads the all-time series 2-0.
C-USA enjoys significant television exposure through partnerships with FOX Sports Media Group, CBS Sports Network and ESPN. The multi-tiered selection process that is rooted in partnering with all three networks has substantially increased the number of national and regional appearances for football, men's and women's basketball and all other conference sports.
C-USA membership include institutions within eight of the Top 40 media markets and four in the Top 25 according to Nielsen. C-USA home markets this year will include more than 13 million TV households, a 30 percent increase from two years ago.
Last season, WKU reached the NCAA Tournament for the 17th time in program history after securing the Sun Belt Conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament by posting a 61-60 win over Arkansas State in the title game of the Sun Belt Conference Championships. WKU scored 18 of the final 22 points of the game to beat Red Wolves, marking the fourth time during the 2013-14 season that WKU had overcome a double-digit deficit to win a game. In the NCAA Tournament, WKU fell to fifth-ranked Baylor in Waco, Texas on March 22, 2014 by a final score of 87-74 after the game stayed within a single-digit margin for much of the game, including a late first half lead for WKU.
The team returns reigning league Defensive Player of the Year and WBCA All-American honorable mention selection Chastity Gooch, Alexis Govan and reigning league Freshman of the Year Kendall Noble. It also welcomes in 2014 Kentucky Miss Basketball Ivy Brown and Tashia Brown to highlight the incoming class of freshman.
