BOWLING GREEN, Ky. -- WKU Hilltopper Basketball head coach Ray Harper and the 13 other Conference USA head coaches were in Birmingham, Ala., Wednesday to participate in Conference USA Media Day ahead of the 2014-15 season.
Harper spent three hours in the afternoon at the Westin Hotel with members of the print, television and radio media discussing the upcoming season, his vision for the Hilltopper Basketball program and Conference USA as a whole as the league enters its 20th season in 2014-15. Harper also talked with Pete Gillen of CBS Sports, the C-USA Digital Network, Bill Hazen of the "Today in Conference USA" radio show and the American Sports Network to record segments for air at a later date.
In the evening, Harper and the other head coaches participated in a live broadcast of the C-USA Digital Network at Regions Field in downtown Birmingham.
"This is going to be a tremendous league," Harper said. "I truly believe this is a league that could get multiple bids to the NCAA Tournament in March and be talked about as one of the premiere conferences in America. I like where we fit in in this conference. I like our team, and I think we have a chance to succeed if we continue to work hard day in and day out and buy in to what the coaching staff is teaching."
