KIAWAH ISLAND, South Carolina - Sophomore April Butler posted her best score since October to pace WKU at the 2013 Edwin Watts/Kiawah Island Classic. Butler is currently tied for 34th in the massive field of nearly 175 golfers and just three strokes outside of being in the top 10 in the field.
It was Butler's seventh best round of the year. The sophomore has played a team high 17 rounds this fall for WKU and recorded a 77 for the opening round of the event, nearly equal to her season stroke average of 77.19.
Overall, WKU is in 28th place in the tournament. Freshman Ellinor Haag shot 82 to open the event while Kate Larimore shot 85, Kelsey Burrell recorded an 86 and McKenzie Smith posted an 89 in her debut tournament for WKU.
WKU has two rounds remaining in the event on Monday and Tuesday in the second tournament of the spring for the Lady Toppers.
