West Lafayette, Ind. - A group of five Western Kentucky University track and field student-athletes traveled to Purdue Saturday to compete in the Boilermaker Invitational. The majority of the team had the weekend off in preparation for next weekend's Sun Belt Conference Championship.
Kyle Chettleburgh collected a win to begin the running events Saturday at Lambert Fieldhouse, running a personal-best time of 4:22.13 to collect the victory on the 200-meter flat track. That time converts to 4:20.33, which ranks seventh in the Sun Belt this season.
Competing for the first time in a Lady Topper uniform, Irma Maciukaite won the 400-meter dash with a time of 58.38. That effort converts to 57.68 seconds, which ranks sixth in the SBC this season.
Also competing in her first collegiate meet, Kristina Volfova finished third in the 60-meter hurdles, clocking 9.01 seconds.
Representing the Lady Topper distance corps in the 3,000 meters, Kim Dominguez and Allison Riedling finished eighth and ninth with times of 10:54.44 and 10:56.16, respectively.
The SBC Championship is scheduled to begin Saturday, February 25 at the Murphy Center on the campus of MTSU.
