BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - Western Kentucky University junior Tanner Perkins has been recognized among the top prospects of the Cape Cod League by Perfect Game USA.
Perkins was tabbed among the Top 100 Prospects in the Cape Cod League, one of two leagues with the longest prospects lists among any of the summer wood bat leagues scouted by Perfect Game USA.
The left-hander made five starts for the Harwich Mariners and finished the summer with a 3.25 ERA and a 2-2 record. Perkins struck out 18 and walked only five in 27-2/3 innings. In his Harwich debut, Perkins allowed three runs on seven hits with a season-high eight strikeouts over six innings.
He picked up his second win of the season on July 15 against the Chatham Anglers. Perkins gave up three runs on nine hits in 5-1/3 innings with two strikeouts and zero walks.
The Harwich Mariners swept the Falmouth Commodores 2-0 to win the 2011 Cape Cod Baseball League Championships, its second championship in four years.
