Bowling Green, Ky. - Lady Topper sophomore Karavin Dew was honored by the Sun Belt Conference by being named First Team All-Sun Belt Conference, the league office announced today.
This is the first time Dew has been named to the All-Conference team. A catcher for the Lady Toppers, Dew has appeared in 42 games this season starting in 41 leading the team with a .357 batting average. With five triples on the season, Dew tied the WKU all-time single season triples record. Dew is also tied for first in the Sun Belt Conference in triples, which is tied for second in the Sun Belt record book. Dew has brought in 20 runs off 40 hits with 16 RBIs for a slugging percentage of .571. She has totaled 64 bases with an on base percentage of .393. She posted a season-high two triples for two runs in game against North Texas. Dew played a crucial role in the 5-4 victory over FIU with a two-run homer in the top of the seventh to take the lead, tallying three RBIs in the game. Dew has tallied three separate three-hit games on the season. A catcher for the Lady Toppers, Dew has 165 putouts and 28 assists with a .970 fielding percentage.
The Lady Toppers (29-27, 9-15 SBC) will take on FAU opening day of the Sun Belt Conference tournament in Lafayette, La., Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. at Lamson Park.
