Hello Lady Topper Softball Fans!!
My name is Elizabeth Ferrell and I am a senior outfielder. Unfortunately, on March 14th, I got hit by a curveball in practice and fractured my right forearm. I later had surgery, and now have a metal plate and eight screws in my arm! Although, this is not exactly how I pictured my senior year, I can honestly say that this has been the best team that I have ever been a part of. We have such amazing team chemistry and they have made this year much more enjoyable, considering the circumstances. I am going to miss being a part of this team so much, but luckily it's not over yet!!!
On Saturday, we had our Senior Day and our last two games against MTSU. All we had to do was win one game in order to advance to the tournament. However, if we won two then we would enter the tournament in 7th place, instead of 8th. So basically, our fate was in our own hands. Needless to say, we responded to the challenge and beat MTSU, twice! The first game was 5-4, in extra innings, and 4-1.
There was never any doubt in my mind that our so called "inexperienced" team would come out and prove everyone wrong. All year we have been doubted and under-estimated by everyone on the outside looking in. Now, we get to travel to Louisiana Lafayette, show everyone what we are really made of, and bring home the first Conference Championship!!
Be sure to keep up with our games on-line!
Sincerely,
Elizabeth Ferrell
