The Lady Toppers outshot Troy by one, 7-6, but came up short in goals. At a two-goal deficit in the 86th-minute of action Lady Topper Sydney Sisler scored WKU's lone goal to stop the Trojans from grabbing a shutout over WKU. At goal for the Lady Toppers, Libby Stout made three saves, now with a record of 7-5-2. The loss breaks a five-game undefeated streak against Troy and the first time the Lady Toppers have allowed Troy to score a goal since 2005.
WKU opened the match allowing Troy to put a shot on goal in the first minute, saved by Stout. Troy took the lead in the 10th minute as they took advantage of a cornerkick with a goal by April Madden off a header. Sophomore Laura Ray made an attempt to knot the game in the 14th-minute with a shot on goal saved by Troy's goalkeeper. The shot by Ray would be the only shot for the Lady Toppers in the first half. Troy posted four shots in the first half with three cornerkick opportunities.
Two minutes into the second half Lady Topper Sisler tallied a shot on goal. Troy had two cornerkick opportunities in the 49th-minute before scoring their second goal in the 51st-minute of action by Mary Morris. The Lady Toppers, in a two-goal deficit, battled back as Katrina Ott tallied two shots. WKU held Troy to zero shots after their second goal. In the 86th-minute Sisler grabbed her third goal of the season, unassisted, to put the deficit at one. With only four minutes left to tie the game, WKU's Mallory Outerbridge posted a shot on goal in the final minute of the match, saved by Troy's goalkeeper.
WKU had one cornerkick opportunity while Troy posted six. The Lady Toppers battled with six shots in the second half holding Troy to only two shots. Sisler led the Lady toppers in shots with three and two on goal. Ott tallied two shots and one on goal. Ray and Outerbridge both tallied one shot on goal.
