The match marked the 10th contest between the two teams and fifth straight victory over the Trojans. The Lady Toppers hold a 9-1 advantage over the Trojans.
WKU opened the match with a shot in the first five minutes by junior forward Mallory Outerbridge. The Lady Toppers allowed the Trojans to post the next three shots, before WKU's junior Kaylyn Pratt shot the ball in the 31st minute hitting the crossbar. The shot opened an cornerkick opportunity for the Lady Toppers. Off the cornerkick Courtney Rymer posted a header shot on goal, saved by UALR.
The two teams battle through the first half to a scoreless 45 minutes. WKU and UALR matched shots in the first half 3-3, while WKU goalkeeper Libby Stout tallied two saves.
The second half opened up with UALR scoring the first goal of the match in the opening eight minutes of the second half. The goal by Adrianna Queen made from the ride side, 10 yards out, slipping past Stout. The Lady Toppers fought back posting four shots and three on goal in the next 24 minutes before knotting the game in the 80th minute of action. The goal scored by junior Laura Ray was shot from 10 yards out, her first goal of the season, assisted by sophomore Sydney Sisler her second assist of the season.
With 10 minutes left to play and a match knotted at 1-1, the Lady Toppers took advantage of their fourth cornerkick opportunity in the match. In the 82 minute of action, two short minutes after WKU knotted the match, junior Kelsey Meyer tallied the game-winning goal off the corner kick from five yards out, her first goal of the season. The Lady Toppers were able to hold the Trojans and tally the win.
WKU outshot UALR 9-6, posting six shots on goal. The Lady Toppers had five corner kick opportunities. Leading the Lady Toppers were Ray and Meyer, with the two goals, Sisler with the assist, while junior Lindsey Goad posted two shots on goal in the match.
WKU goalkeeper Libby Stout battled the complete 90-minute match making two saves, both in the first half, allowing one Trojan goal. Stout improves her record to 3-3-2.
