Bowling Green, Ky.---- The Western Kentucky University baseball team will be hosting a Labor Day Showcase Camp on Sunday, September 6 for 9th through 12th grade players interested in playing baseball at the collegiate level.
The camp will feature a pro style workout, along with hitting and pitching instruction, batting practice on the newly renovated Nick Denes Field and competitive games.
Walk-up registration will not be accepted.
The Labor Day Showcase Camp has proven to be extremely beneficial to campers, with 12 current players on the Hilltopper baseball roster having attended this camp in the past. All campers will receive a WKU baseball t-shirt, while receiving one-on-one attention from members of the Hilltopper coaching staff, as well as current players.
The WKU baseball program finished the 2009 season with the program’s first national ranking since 2001, the first at-large NCAA Tournament bid, first 40-win season in 21 years and came within one win of advancing to the program’s first-ever NCAA Super Regional. A record six Hilltoppers were drafted in the 2009 Major League Baseball First-Year Players Draft, led by third round pick Wade Gaynor, who was tabbed as the 90th overall selection by the Detroit Tigers.
