BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - The Lady Toppers (26-13, 10-5 SBC) continue Sun Belt Conference play this week against Florida Atlantic in Bowling Green. WKU will battle Florida Atlantic on Wednesday night at 5 and 7 p.m. CT and again on Thursday at 5 p.m. WKU won the series against North Texas last weekend winning the first two games of the series before dropping the final game to the Mean Green. The WKU softball team (24-12, 8-4 SBC) took the series from North Texas after winning games one and two and dropping game three. The Lady Toppers defeated the Mean Green 4-1 in game one and 6-4 in game two but fell in game three 11-6. During the weekend, WKU hit .289 at the plate after recording 24 hits and scoring 16 runs.
With only 11 games remaining in the regular season, the Lady Toppers are hitting .261 as a team and have collected 280 hits and 168 runs. Senior Terri Ellingsworth and junior Lindsay Antone are leading the team this season. Ellingsworth is batting .321 this season in 28 games with 27 hits, 21 runs, 26 RBIs, seven homeruns and six doubles. Antone has played in all 37 games this season for the Lady Toppers and has recorded 38 hits, 25 runs, six doubles, seven homeruns, 20 RBIs and has a batting average of .290.
Senior Ryan Rogge picked up her 19th and 20th wins of the season against North Texas. Currently, Rogge has a 1.10 ERA which is the 12th best ERA in the nation. Additionally, she has also recorded nine shutouts this season and is tied for tenth in the country in that category. For the conference season, Rogge has recorded a 0.98 ERA after pitching 71.1 inings and giving up just 53 hits, 12 runs, ten earned runs and striking out 42. Additionally, Rogge has walked just three batters the entire conference season. Rogge is currently on an eight game winning streak and has not lost since March 29.
The Lady Toppers are fourth in the Sun Belt in batting average with a .261 average. In pitching, WKU is currently second and has posted a combined ERA of 1.97. ULL leads the conference in both categories with a .309 batting average and a 0.88 ERA. Pitcher Ryan Rogge is also third in the SBC in pitching with a 1.10 ERA.
The Lady Toppers are 21-2 overall when scoring first in a game and are 6-0 at home when scoring first. WKU is also almost perfect when leading after five innings with a 16-1 overall mark and 15-0 when leading after six innings.
