Bowling Green, Ky. The WKU softball team participated in the 2009 Bowl for Kids' Sake on the WKU campus Wednesday night. The team, who has continuously supported community service organizations around the Bowling Green area, spent time bowling to raise money for the local Bowling Green chapter of the Kentucky Big Brothers Big Sisters organization.
Bowl for Kids' Sake is the Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Central Kentucky's largest annual fundraising event. The event provides almost half of the organization's annual operating budget. The event, that draws almost 2,000 people in the Bowling Green community, benefits the Big Brothers Big Sisters' mentoring program. The money that is raised supports local volunteer recruitment efforts, as well as helps organize group events for both active matches and for those children that are still waiting to be matched with their Big Brother or Big Sister. Teams are comprised of members who must raise at least $30, $150 per team, to participate in the event.
