BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — Rivals.com writer Kendall Rogers lists WKU head baseball coach Chris Finwood as one of the nation's hottest coaches, three days after naming him one of collegiate baseball's rising coaches.
In an article published on December 18, Rogers highlights how the Hilltopper baseball program has flourished under Finwood the past two seasons, saying the fifth-year WKU coach is "[q]uietly one of the hottest coaches in America."
Finwood is in elite company on rivals.com's 10-coach list, as four of the other nine coaches saw their teams advance to the College World Series in 2009 and four more reached a Super Regional last season.
Joining Finwood on Rogers' list of the nation's hottest coaches are Paul Mainieri of the 2009 National Champion LSU Tigers, Cal State Fullerton's Dave Serrano, Brian O'Connor of Virginia, Dan McDonnell of Louisville, East Carolina's Billy Godwin, Florida's Kevin O'Sullivan, Jim Schlossnagle of TCU, Mike Gillespie of UC Irvine and Arkansas's Dave Van Horn.

Rogers listed Finwood as one of the nation's rising coaches in an article published three days earlier, saying "Finwood is one of the few mid-major coaches to watch in the near future."
Finwood has compiled a 122-107 record in four season as the head coach of the Hilltoppers. His team has reached the NCAA Tournament in each of the past two seasons, advancing to the championship game of the Oxford Regional in 2009, and won the 2009 Sun Belt Conference regular-season championship and the 2008 conference tournament title. WKU has improved its record a total of 15 games in Finwood's first four seasons on the Hill.
