BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — WKU head baseball coach Chris Finwood has been listed as one of the nation's rising coaches by prominent college baseball writer Kendall Rogers of rivals.com. The list, comprised of 11 coaches Rogers says are rising in the ranks, was published on rivals.com on December 15.
Finwood, about to enter his fifth season at the helm of the WKU baseball program, was the third coach listed in the article. According to Rogers, "Finwood is one of the few mid-major coaches to watch in the near future." He goes on to highlight some of WKU's accomplishments under Finwood, including the program's first 40-win season in 21 years in 2009 and two straight trips to the NCAA Tournament.
Joining Finwood on Rogers' list of rising coaches are TCU's Jim Schlossnagle, Gonzaga's Mark Machtolf, Boston College's Mik Aoki, Kansas' Ritch Price, Larry Lee of Cal Poly, Kent State's Scott Stricklin, Ray Birmingham of New Mexico, Rodney Hennon of Georgia Southern, Loyola Marymount's Jason Gill and Jim Foster of Rhode Island.

Finwood has compiled a 122-107 record in four season as the head coach of the Hilltoppers. His team has reached the NCAA Tournament in each of the past two seasons, advancing to the championship game of the Oxford Regional in 2009, and won the 2009 Sun Belt Conference regular-season championship and the 2008 conference tournament title. WKU has improved its record a total of 15 games in Finwood's first four seasons on the Hill.
