With the outstanding start to the season, WKU received five votes in the ESPN.com/USA Softball Collegiate Top 25 and one vote in the USA Today/NFCA Top 25 polls.
The Toppers kick off the tournament on Friday at 9 a.m. (CST) against No. 15 Mississippi State, which comes in a perfect 11-0. WKU will then face host Mercer (3-3) at 1 p.m. On Saturday, WKU will take on Austin Peay at 1 p.m. and Nicholls State at 5 p.m. The championship rounds will take place on Sunday.
“We have to take our momentum from last weekend and transfer it to this weekend,” head coach Tyra Perry said. “Our main focus is to continue to develop our own game. This is another challenging tournament with a Southeastern Conference contender and three other strong schools in the field.”

The softball team will also participate in “Bowl for Kids Sake” on Tuesday, Feb. 26, sponsored by the Big Brother Big Sister program. WKU will begin bowling at 8 p.m. at the Downing University Center.
