Bowling Green, Ky. The Western Kentucky University softball team will welcome six new members to the 2010 team, head coach Tyra Perry announced today. Karavin Dew, Ciara Garcia, Katrina Metoyer, Mallorie Sulaski, Shelby Taylor and Kimberly Wagner will head to the Hill and become the newest members of the Lady Topper squad.
Sulaski, from Lakewood, Colo., was a four-year starter at Bear Creek High School. The four-time All-Conference selection was named All-State her junior and senior years and is a two-time All-Colorado honoree. A four-time scholar-athlete award winner, Sulaski helped guide the Bears to three conference championships, a third-place state finish and a state runner-up finish in 2007. The captain of the team her junior and senior years, Sulaski was named MVP both of those seasons while maintaining at least a 3.6 GPA.
"I am very excited to welcome Mallorie into the WKU Softball family," Perry stated. "She is a lefty pitcher that also hits and can play firstbase. She is naturally poised and a leader by example."
Sulaski's travel team, the Colorado Quicksilver has won many local tournaments, including a state championship, while also placing 12th in the ASA Nationals.
"I'm so excited that I will be attending Western Kentucky University and play for Coach Perry," Sulaski said. "I feel like it's a fine school with genuine people and a great atmosphere. I look forward to working hard and becoming a part of such a talented team."
