Bowling Green, Ky. — Matt Ridings was a late addition to the All Ping! Freshman Third Team on Thursday afternoon, joining teammate Bart Carter on the organizations first-ever squad.
Ridings, a 6-foot, 170-pound right-hander from Nashville, Tenn., posted a 7-2 record – the most wins by a Hilltopper in three seasons – with a 4.60 ERA. He led the team with 86 innings pitched, 70 strikeouts and three complete games, and he held opponents to a .255 batting average. The WKU hurler was 5-1 in Sun Belt Conference play.
Earlier this year, Ridings was honored as the Sun Belt Pitcher of the Week twice. The first time came following his collegiate debut, in February while the other was after his second complete game, a 2-0 shutout of Middle Tennessee in late May.
