As a part of these men’s and women’s all-time teams, the Hilltoppers and Lady Toppers each landed six members. WKU men’s honorees include Nick Aliwell, Jonathan Brown, Sean Dollman, Enda Grandfield, Aaron Mullins and Raigo Toompuu. Western women on the list include Selina Campbell-Blick, Olga Cronin, Breeda Dennehy, Valerie Lynch, Michelle Murphy Scott and Cara Nichols.
Nick Aliwell (1994-1997)
• Earned all-America honors in the 10,000 meters in 1995
• Won five events while earning six all-conference accolades
• Claimed the league title in the 5,000-meter run each year from 1995-97
• Holds the Sun Belt Championship record in the 1,500-meter run
Jonathan Brown (2002-04) • The only athlete in WKU history to earn multiple all-America honors at the same NCAA championship, after accomplishing the feat in the 100- and 200-meter dashes in 2004
• Earned all-SBC honors eight times in three seasons
• School record-holder in the 200-meter dash and was part of the 4x100-meter relay team that set the WKU standard
Sean Dollman (1989-92) • Won the 10,000 meters at the 1992 NCAA Championships to earn all-America honors
• In his only season in the Sun Belt, won the 5,000-meter run at the league championships
• Holds the SBC and WKU record in the 10,000 meters, as well as the league’s championship meet standard in the 5,000 meter run
Enda Grandfield (2001-04) • Named the outstanding track performer at the 2003 SBC championshps after winning both the 5,000- and 10,000-meter runs, while placing third in the 1,500 meters
• Earned all-conference honors on six occasions in all, adding championships in the 5,000 and 10,000 meters in ‘02
Aaron Mullins (1998-99) • Earned four all-Sun Belt honors, winning the steeplechase at the 1998 and ‘99 league championships
• Placed in the top three in the 1,500-meter run at the SBC championships in both of his years at WKU
Raigo Toompuu (2002-05) • Earned all-America honors in the discus and also qualified for the NCAA Championships in the shot put in 2005, while also qualifying for the NCAA field in the discus in 2004
• Named the SBC Outstanding Field Performer of the Meet in 2004 and ‘05, while also earning the honor of top-point scorer at the meet in each of his four yeras
• A 12-time all-SBC performer who won eight events at the league championships, he was a four-time winner in both the discus and shot put
• Holds Sun Belt overall and championship records in the discus and the shot, and is the WKU record holder in both the discus and hammer
Selina Campbell-Blick (1995-98) • Won the javelin at the 1995 and ‘97 Sun Belt championships, also scoring in the event in ‘96 and ‘98
• Ranked in the top three in the event during the regular season in each of her first three seasons
• Also scored at the league championships in the discus her final two years
Olga Cronin (2000-03) • Named the Outstanding Track Performer at the 2003 SBC championships after winning the 3,000-meter steeplechase and the 5,000-meter run, while adding a third-place finish in the 1,500 meters
• Earned all-conference honors eight times during her career, including winning four races – she added titles in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 2000 and 5,000 meters in 2002
• Set the WKU record in the steeplechase her junior season
Breeda Dennehy (1990-91, ‘93) • Won both the 1,500 and 3,000 meters at the 1993 Sun Belt championships
• Is still the conference record holder in the 5,000-meter run, while also setting standing in the 1,500 and 5,000 meters at Western
Valerie Lynch (1997-00) • A two-time champion in the 5,000-meter run (1999 and ‘00), who also won the 3,000 meters as a junior at the league meet
• Added all-conference honors after finshing second in the 3,000-meter run her senior year
• Holds the Sun Belt and WKU record in the 10,000-meter run after provisionally qualifying for the NCAA championships in her final season
Michelle Murphy Scott (1990-93) • In two seasons competing at the SBC championships, earned all-conference accolades on five occasions
• Won the 5,000-meter run in both 1992 and ‘93, adding a title in the 3,000-meter run in ‘92
• Finished second in the 1,500 and 3,000 meters in 1993
Cara Nichols (2002-05) • Was the top-point scorer at the 2003 SBC championships after winning the 1,500-meter run, while adding all-conference performances in the 800 meters (second), 3,000-meter steeplechase (third) and 5,000 meters (third)
• Ended her career with eight all-Sun Belt honors, including winning the 1,500-meter run in ‘04 to qualify for the NCAA regionals
• Set the Lady Topper record in the 800 meters during the 2003 campaign
Both men’s and women’s teams were selected by a 26-member media panel after each school nominated qualified student-athletes.
