The win boosted the Hilltoppers' record to 9-7 after they won four of their five games at this weekend's Aztec Invitational.
Jennifer Brooks went 3-for-4 for the Hilltoppers and scored two runs. Amanda Ford-Feitz and Shelby Smith chipped in two hits a piece, as WKU tallied 11 hits in the contest.
LMU (7-5) got on the board first with a Hillaree Bennett home run in the third. The Hilltoppers responded with a three-run sixth inning, which began with Ford-Feitz's home run off Lion reliever Tiffany Pagano. Brooks reached first safely on an infield single, then scored on a Sam Cronk sacrifice fly. LMU committed three errors in the top half of the inning, including one by catcher Chelsie Tysdal that brought Becky Bishop across the plate. The Lions scored once in the sixth on a fielder's choice.
Bishop's seventh inning two-RBI single scored Brooks and Allie Miles, and Smith wrapped up WKU's scoring when she advanced home on a Renikka Toliver infield hit.
Adrienne Lathrop pitched 7.0 innings in the Hilltoppers' win. The Ridgecrest, Calif., native did not walk a single Lion batter and gave up two earned runs on six hits.
WKU visits Evansville for a 2 p.m. (CST) doubleheader Wednesday.
