The first will be a showcase camp on the Sunday of Labor Day weekend (Sept. 4), while the other will be a fall instructional league, running two nights a week in September and October. Both camps will be held at Nick Denes Field on the WKU campus.
The Labor Day Weekend Showcase Camp will run from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. (CDT), and is open to 9th through 12th-grade students. The morning session will consist of a pro-style tryout, where campers will be graded on fielding, throwing and running by professional scouts and the WKU coaching staff. Each camper will also be graded on live batting practice. Games will also be played, where each pitcher will be evaluated on mechanics and velocity. Games will also be filmed for future evaluation.
The cost of the showcase camp is $100, with each camper also receiving a Louisville Slugger WKU baseball t-shirt.
The 2005 Fall Instructional League will begin Sept. 12 and run through Oct. 6. The league will be held on Mondays and Thursdays from 5-8:30 p.m. Each session will include 30 minutes of instruction, followed by two 90-minute games. Teams not playing will receive hitting instruction from WKU staff and players. One-on-one instruction will be a daily part of the instructional league.
The instructional league will cost $200, with each participant also receiving a t-shirt.
