The sophomore hurler held the FIU hitters to a .146 batting average by allowing just seven hits over 14.0 innings of work, while striking out 10 batters. Her efforts led WKU to 1-0 and 2-0 victories en route to taking its first-ever series from the Golden Panthers. Lathrop now has six shutouts on the year, tying her for WKU’s single-season record.
The Hilltoppers return to action on Wednesday, when they welcome Lipscomb to the WKU Softball Complex for a doubleheader beginning at 4 p.m. (CDT). After that, Western heads to No. 7 Louisiana-Lafayette (May 1-2) before closing out the regular season at home against North Texas (May 8-9).
