The 6-foot-8, 200-pound Bowling Green native — and freshman walk-on — broke his left wrist during drills Saturday. The injury was repaired on the same day, leaving Maresca in a cast indefinitely, as he is expected to miss up to eight weeks.
“We are very disappointed for Matt because this setback comes at a time he was showing good progress,” said Western’s second-year head coach, Darrin Horn. “We look forward to getting him back as quickly as possible.”
The Toppers begin exhibition play Saturday with a 7 p.m. (CST) tip-off against Brock (Canada) University at E.A. Diddle Arena.
