Bowling Green, Ky. - The Western Kentucky women's soccer team defeated Austin Peay 1-0 in its home opener Friday night at the Creason Complex.
The game remained scoreless untill the 65th minute of the game when Lady Topper forward Kim Warren (Fr., Austin, Texas) headed home a pass from Besty Duncan (So, West Des Moines, Iowa) for the game's only score. It was Warren's first goal of her career and Duncan's first assist of the season.
Western won its second consecutive game to improve its record to 2-1-0. The Governors lost their second straight game and fell to 0-2-0.
Western outshot the Lady Governors 9-2 in the first half but failed to take advantage of any scoring opportunities. For the game, Western outshot Austin Peay 29-3.
Lady Topper goalie Amy Uhlman (So., Louisville, Ky.) recorded only one save on the night but notched her first shutout of the season to improve her record to 2-1-0.
Western continues its season at home Sunday afternoon against Morehead State. Game time is set for 2 p.m. (CDT).
